Yasmin

Arkinstall

Playing and teaching experience:

I have been singing for 20 years and playing piano for 16 years, having completed my Bachelor of Music (Vocal Performance) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2018. I am a 24-year-old classically-trained soprano with an interest in teaching a diverse range of genres (classical, pop, musical theatre, jazz, etc) with as little vocal tension as possible so that it feels comfortable and effortless for you. I also teach beginner-intermediate level piano, being at a Grade 6 AMEB-level and having sat these practical exams. I've been teaching both singing and piano for 4 years at such schools as Griffiths Music School, Cadence Music School and my own business. I have prepared multiple students for their AMEB grades in this time.

Performance experience:
Apart from having prepared multiple vocal recitals at the Con, I have sung for and been interviewed by Studio 10 in 2018 and 2019, and shared my story with CutCommon (classical music magazine) which was published in its 2nd print edition. Most notable solo performances took place at The Schools Spectacular when I was 8 years old, City Recital Hall for 500 of Deutche Bank's leading business women, The Opera House for the 2013 Smith Family annual ceremony, the 2013 UWS campaign launch for Julia Gillard when she was Prime Minister (singing the National Anthem), Stepping Stone House's 2019 Sleep Under the Stars event MC'd by Kyle Sandilands, and the 2019 David Jones Elizabeth Street shoe floor launch. This Level 7 launch had Sarah Harris from Studio 10, Let’s Connect Women, The Smith Family, and Comm Bank present. I have sung as soprano soloist in 2019 for both Vivaldi's Gloria in D major and Handel's Messiah at Chris O'Brien Lifehouse. My most recent theatrical experience was playing Polly Peachum in the Beggars Opera and Susanna in Figaro.
